When I started blogging, I narrowed down to the name of Happy Thoughts - Our enchanted life for a couple of reasons.
Firstly, it was inspired by a movie that I had seen just before I started blogging called "Enchanted" featuring the very pretty Amy Adams & spunky Susan Saradon. It made sense to me that even though the world around is filled with dangers, increasing hatred, violence, intolerance that meant that we scummed to moments of weakness, which lead us to do things we always regret at a later stage in life, its always better to "Keep your face to the Sun".
Secondly, was this line that a copywriter of mine borrowed for a campaign, which was from the movie Rocky Balboa where Rocky is talking to his son outside his restaurant and he gives him this speech - "Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It's a very mean and nasty place and I don't care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't about how hard ya hit. It's about how hard you can get it and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done! Now if you know what you're worth then go out and get what you're worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain't you! You're better than that! I'm always gonna love you no matter what. No matter what happens. "
Lately, when ever I have found myself ruminating or rueing missed opportunities, I cheer myself up by saying that nothing can be more exciting than the future. Life is filled with glorious uncertainities. Tomorrow, the sun will rise again and though I may not be in time to wake up and see the sunrise, I can still move forward in life by keeping my face to the sun and ensure that I keep moving forward - EVERY TIME!
