Screwed while buying this book…….

Well, my best friend decided that this year on my birthday, he would gift me the one thing that I could never get tired of receiving as a birthday gift – A book. Now, N and me go back a long way as friends and we have known each other’s likes and dislikes. However, when it comes to reading books, N cannot bring himself to read one as he sees no value in it. It does nothing for him. Infact he probably never even has walked into a book store to buy a book for himself or anyone else before this hilarious incident.

He called me and asked me what book I wanted to read or have as a part of my little collection. Since I had just finished reading Subroto Bagchi’s latest book “Go Kiss The World”, I decided to try another biography. I had been thinking of buying Richard Branson’s biography – Losing My Virginity. SO I mentioned the name to him but insisted that he buys it from a place that sold second hand books or had a discount sale on at that point of time.

A week after my birthday was over, I get a call from him and he’s hurling abuses at me as soon as I answered the call. I was taken back when I heard the usually calm and composed N getting all agitated.

So I asked to calm down and explain what on earth had I done to him to get a earful of such stuff from him.

So he narrates the incident to me. Turns out that our man had finally decided to go and get my birthday book from a store that he saw on his way back from work. He walked into the store and asked the first salesperson that he was looking for a book for his friend. And it had to do something with Virginity in the title. He was quite promptly directed to the Erotica section and asked to help himself. And this freaked him out completely. Simply because that it was not right on my part to ask a friend to buy me dirty books.

Yours truly was forcing his best friend to buy me an Erotica novel as birthday gift.

I immediately burst out laughing that infuriated him even more. He was about to hurl a few more of the choicest abuses on me when I had to quickly calm him down and explain that I was looking at an biography of Richard Branson who is the chairman and founder of the Virgin group. I then asked him what he had asked the store sales staff and he recounted the incident to me which had shocked him and I could do little to control my mirth.

Anyway, he apologized and then asked for the book by the full title and was directed to the right section and book which he picked up.

However, it is now over a month since all this happened and I am yet to receive that book though we have met several times after the incident.
